Sherwood State School - bike skills training

Your child is invited to participate in a bike skills training session, thanks to Brisbane City Council’s Active School Travel Program.

About this event

Using their own bike, students will learn the basic cycling skills and knowledge needed to ride a bike safely and confidently. The session covers:

  • safety check, including helmet, tyres, chain and brakes.
  • bike control, environment scanning, signalling and riding manoeuvres.
  • safely crossing intersections and the road (footpath to footpath).
  • Queensland road rules and footpath etiquette.

Professional cycling coaches deliver the session.

All students must be able to ride a bike without training wheels. Please bring your own bike and helmet.

These sessions are free and conducted on school grounds during school time.
